Kodiak has a surprising variety of good restaurants. Fine dining on Kodiak is defined as enjoying great food with great friends in an atmosphere that doesn't require changing clothes from a day of outdoor adventure.

Review: Martha's Place
Martha cooks out of a rolling food wagon, but don't let the "roach coach" exterior fool you. Martha advertises that she serves Kodiak's finest Mexican food, and she is not lying. Everything is home-made, fresh and tasty. Martha's offers authentic recipes without the "Americanization" that most Mexican restaurants succumb to. Martha's mobile Mexican food is open Mon - Fri 11:30 a.m. - 3 p.m. in the Elks parking lot and 6 p.m. - 9 p.m. in Sutliff's parking lot.

Review: Channel Side Chowder House
The Chowder House just keeps getting better. I've always enjoyed going there for the good coffee and fresh pastries, not to mention the incredible channel view. One can sit for hours watching boats and marine life go by. The best thing about the Chowder House though is the fish and chips. Quite possibly the best I have ever tasted, anywhere. My favorite is the salmon. The "small" portion is actually huge. About four thick striips of good, fresh local salmon in a crispy, tasty batter served over an amazing pile of crispy, fresh hot french fries. One of the best food value deals in Kodiak is also one of the most delictious. The only down side is the Chowder house is closed for much of the Winter - just when we need it most.

Kodiak Coffee

One of the most enjoyable pastimes in Kodiak is hanging out at coffee houses. Great coffee and plenty of atmosphere are not hard to find in Kodiak. Depending on the mood, there's always a place to go to get a great cup of coffee and an interesting slice of Kodiak life.

At Harborside the fishing harbor activity can be seen up close. An interesting assortment of characters populate the environs.

Mill Bay offers a cozy, homey atmosphere with a buzzing social scene or a cozy, relaxing space to relax all in the same place. Mill Bay also has an amazing bakery, and they roast their own coffee.

Watch floatplanes come in on Lily Lake, paint ceramics and browse local art at the Fly by.

Monk's Rock offers a collection of books, artifacts and icons to entertain while enjoying the brews.
